2014. July August & September Shari Studio News
| 1 July First berries were picked. I returned to my Hokkaido studio on June 25 to begin many summer projects. I was very happy to be back and also to see that the heavy snows from the winter did not do too much damage. I quickly checked on the status of my fruit bushes, and was pleased to see that I would soon be able to pick the first berries of the season. The first berries were picked on July 1. They are delicious! |

The weather was good for growing so I was able to continue picking for
many weeks. I was also happy to be able to share some with my friends. |

12 July Still cool days. The early part of July was still cool and rainy on many days. I even made a fire in my woodstove on July 12, and enjoyed a cup of coffee while sharing my fireside chair with my cat. |

| 25 July Shared delicious vegetables. By the end of July my garden was also starting to produce some vegetables and some friends also shared the delicious vegetables from their gardens as well. I enjoy cooking something different and delicious every day! |

| 1 August Filling my woodshed. My supply of wood for my woodstove was nearly gone. On August 1 I received a truckload of new firewood. |

Although it was hard work, I enjoyed stacking it and moving enough to fill my woodshed that is near my backdoor. |  |

14 August First picking of fresh corn. I am always anxiously waiting for the first picking of fresh corn on the cob of the season. I was able to enjoy the first picking on August 14 this year. I know that seems late for many people in the US, but the growing season in Hokkaido starts later than most areas in the US. But it was so delicious that itfs worth the wait! |

16 August Repainting. It was a harsh winter another task that accomplished was repainting the green trim around the door for the entrance to my studio. |

18 August Fresh sage. I always try to grow fresh sage in my garden every year. Sometimes it is difficult, but this year I was able to harvest a large crop of fresh sage. |
| I will dry it, and am looking forward to cooking some delicious Italian recipes that use my sage. |  |
| 21 August Photo for memories of Kasuri. I was happy to be able to enjoy much of the summer with Kasuri, my cat. He has been a faithful companion for me for 19 years! This summer was difficult for him, as he could not enjoy good health. |

This picture was taken on August 14, which was only 5 days before he died. Now I have a big hole in my heart. I am very sad, but I am pleased to have shared so much happiness with him for 19 years. I am sure there is a special place in heaven for cats like him; and I am confident that he is there. This photo is for Kasurifs many happy memories..... |
| 1 September Quilt show in Nantes, France in April, 2015. Now I have just finished preparations for sending many things from my studio to be displayed as part of my featured exhibition at the international quilt show in Nantes, France in April of 2015.
