July 10.2012
Welcome to my summer studio in Japan!
Yes, I am missing Boston, but I am also enjoying the quiet country life at my studio in Shari in Hokkaido!

@I am enjoying the company of my cat, Kasuri.
You can see that he is also enjoying his morning wake up and the fresh air!
But it has also been a cool summer, so cool that on many other days I needed to use my wood stove to keep warm.
I also used the stove to make some delicious bean soup.

I am enjoying the early summer flowers, and my garden is already providing me with delicious food, including arugula.

Next week I will be meeting with NHK - Educational in my studio in preparation for my Tokyo exhibition next year.
I have been working to get ready.
Now I am nearly ready for that meeting, so I can also take the time to enjoy spinning some new wool.
Notice that Kasuri is also enjoying an afternoon nap as he likes to be with me too while I am working.

I visited my friend who owns a commercial bakery.
She has a special earthen oven that is fantastic for making delicious bread.
We made several kinds of bread together, including some cinnamon rolls,...except we forgot to add the cinnamon so they were only sugar rolls, but still delicious.:)
I also made a pizza for Lunch.

I am currently with Suffolk sheep wool from a farm in Shari, and using natural vegetable indigo dye.
I am looking forward to weaving with it next month.
Yes,I am enjoying my time in Hokkaido in Japan, including working on my textile projects that I want to finish this ummer, as well as the outside work to care for my studio.

If you would like to host an exhibition of my quilt, please contact me.
