™š™š™July 2011,Shari Studio News™š™š™

1 July

I returned to Japan in late June to my studio in Shari.I was surprised that it was still very cool in Hokkaido.
It was so rainy and cold that I had to have a fire in my woodstove for a few days!
But fortunately summer soon arrived.
As you can see from the photos, my lilac bush was covered with many blossoms and my new rose quickly produced some beautiful blooms to welcome July!(studio backyard)
Yes,I was able to open a door and enjoy the fresh air.
And I was happy to be able to enjoy a pleasant breeze while doing my work.
And I am most happy that I am focusing on renewing my work on my hexagon log cabin quilts(I already completed one 2005-2010),and expect to make good progress this summer.
I have several new designs for this series in various stages of progress and ideas for more!..
I am also pleased that I have some meetings next week to discuss plans for my next exhibition. In short,I will have a busy summer with my work at my Shari studio this summer.
And at 6:30pm on July 1, I also was fortunate to enjoy a wonderful Noritaka Ito piano concert in a beautiful hillside setting overlooking a lovely mountain about an hour's drive from my studio.
This was an unexpected treat,as I only learned about this concert by chance a few days before:)

If you would like to host an exhibition of my quilt, please contact me.
