April 5. Sunday. Spring Comes to Woods End, Studio Concert. The snow finally stopped falling and everyone was looking forward to Spring. Although much if it had not yet melted, I was very fortunate to be able to host a special private concert which I called Spring Comes to Woods End. |

The concert was presented by Gerald Elias, violinist, formerly with the
BSO and now assistant concert master at the Utah Symphony orchestra, and
Victor Rosenbaum, an internationally famous concert pianist and teacher,
and faculty member at the New England Conservatory. I had nearly 30 guests who enjoyed the program of sonatas by Mozart, Schubert and concluding with Beethoven's Spring sonata. Following the concert, I hosted a reception after the music so everyone enjoyed nearly 4 hours of music and friendship It was interesting that a special guest was 99 years old, and youngest guests were in their 30's, so the beautiful music was enjoyed by many generations. |

April 9 Behind the scenes tour at the MFA I had the privilege to enjoy another behind the scenes tour at the MFA-Boston featuring works of Leonardo da Vinci titled The Idea of Beauty. |

| The gallery was still being installed prior to the official opening and included a lecture by the curator in charge of assembling this work. This lecture was very informative and interesting! |

| April 14 Last remaining snow piles One of the last remaining snow piles had been reduced to this small reminder of the past winter. I was sad to see it go, as despite the hard work, I enjoyed the winter. It reminded me of many Hokkaido's winters! One of the largest snow piles was at the end of my studio driveway. This gets more sun, so melted more quickly, which has finally allowed the daffodils to start growing. |

April 15 Malcolm Rogers' reception speech at the MFA And I was lucky to be able to return the following week to view the completed installation that was the opening for the benefactors of the museum. While I was excited to see the amazing works of this famous artist, I was also sad because I realized that it was likely the last time that I would hear Malcolm Rogers' reception speech for a featured exhibit like this. |

| He announced his retirement several months ago, and the MFA has just announced
that a new director has been hired who will start on August 3. I was very impressed with his farewell speech. |
