February 2013 Boston studio news
2013: February 5 @Tokyo Great International Quilt Festival report. The quilt festival was held at the Tokyo Dome from January 24 - 30. My exhibition was a great success! Yesterday all of my quilts were delivered to me in Boston, and I received a report from NHK that the show was a great success, especially my featured exhibition. I received numerous great responses from the many thousands of visitors to my gallery. A total of almost 240,000 people visited the exhibition during the 7 days. |

I am including several pictures that I took with my camera before the exhibition opened the first day that show part of my gallery space. One section of the display was the antique fabric and clothes from my pioneer grandparents. I also displayed the various steps for making my quilts, including a partially completed quilt top showing the back as well as the front of the top, plus some samples of fabric, the patterns and other tools. |

Before the opening, the Yomiuri Daily newspaper printed a feature article
about the exhibition, including pictures of several quilts. The following day a similar story appeared in the English language edition. This is a link to the article if you would like to see it. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/features/arts/T130116002208.htm |
NHK presented a one hour documentary on the entire show on January 26 which
also included several of my quilts. I was interviewed by other Tokyo TV stations and several magazines, including Quilt Japan and Quiltmania from France. These interviews will be in future editions. I want to express my sincere thanks to all of the staff of NHK and the Tokyo Dome who worked very hard to assemble and present my exhibition. Everyone was fantastic and did a great job so that the entire show was a great success. I greatly appreciate everyone's support!! |
