Boston Studio news Sep and Oct.

I worked hard to finish some work in my studio in Japan before I returned to Boston on September 20. I am happy to be back in Boston, and especially to be able to participate in several museum activities. I have already attended a function for the Textile and Costume Society, and was very happy to have the opportunity to attend a special party to celebrate the opening of an exciting exhibit of dresses that were designed by Scaasi, a famous New York fashion designer. MFA - Boston is happy that they were chosen to receive many of Scaasi's dresses as a part of their permanent collection. I was also pleased to be able to purchase the museum’s book at the exhibition and have my copy signed by the author, Pamela Parmal! Pam is the curator for the textile department, and I have enjoyed working with her for several years. I was also very impressed with the cover design for the book. I was very surprised to also meet the graphic designer who created the cover and all of the beautiful pictures and illustrations included in the book. Her name is Susan Marsh, and I have since learned that she has done similar work for many beautiful books. She is a lovely person with a warm, wonderful personality, and I’ve enjoyed our new friendship.

This weekend(3 Oct)I returned to the Wachusetts Meadow wildlife sanctuary to see the sheep that privided the wool that I purchased in the Spring. I also took some examples of my weaving to show the farm managers. They were happy to see my work, and I was happy to see "my" sheep! Here a few pictures of the sheep, including Monarca, Guinness and Rye, three of my favorite sheep!
